FHFH

About Us

We are a Christian humanitarian organization that has been working for more than 50 years so that girls, boys, families, and communities can thrive. In collaboration with local leaders, we develop solutions that strengthen mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
A Legacy of Hope

Our History

In 1971, Dr. Larry Ward founded Food for the Hungry (FH) based on a simple premise: if children were dying one by one, he could help them one by one.
The name of our organization, Food for the Hungry, was inspired by Psalm 146:7, which says:

“Who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry.”

Gender Equality Policy

FH’s justice and gender policy promotes justice and gender equality, ensuring that women, men, boys, and girls enjoy the same rights and opportunities. FH works to eliminate structural barriers affecting women and girls, integrate gender analysis into its programs, and foster women’s empowerment, education, and economic equity. In addition, it partners with communities and organizations to transform relationships and build inclusive societies.
